Odisha Civil Services Recruitment 2026 Eglibility criteria
- Citizenship: A candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Age Limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not be above the age of 42 years as on 1st January 2025; he/she must not have been born earlier than 2nd January 1983 and not later than 1st January 2004. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women/Ex-Servicemen and by 10 years for PwD with permanent disability of 40% or more, with cumulative benefit for PwD of SC/ST/SEBC categories.
- Educational Qualification (Essential): A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or a State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or deemed to be a University under Section-3 of the UGC Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
- Odia Language Requirement: The candidate must be able to read, write and speak Odia and must have passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject OR passed High School Certificate or equivalent examination with Odia as medium of examination in non-language subjects OR passed Odia as a language subject in final examination of Class-VII from a recognised school OR passed a test in Odia in Middle English School standard conducted by the Government of Odisha.
- Marital Status Condition: A candidate who has more than one spouse living or, in case of a woman candidate, is married to a person having one spouse living, shall not be eligible unless exempted by the State Government.

- Preliminary Examination (Objective type) for selection of candidates for Main Examination.
- Main Examination (Written) and Interview for Personality Test for selection to various services and posts
- Preliminary Examination: Two compulsory papers of Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions), General Studies Paper-I (200 marks) and General Studies Paper-II (200 marks), each of 2 hours duration.
- General Studies Paper-II is a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks of 33; selection to Main Examination is based on marks in General Studies Paper-I and qualifying the Paper-II as per rules.
- There shall be negative marking: for each wrong answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question shall be deducted; multiple answers to a question are treated as wrong.
- Main Examination: Written examination consists of nine papers – two qualifying language papers (Odia and English) in Part-I and seven papers in Part-II (Essay, General Studies-I, II, III, IV and two Optional subject papers).
- Marks obtained in Part-II papers and Interview (Personality Test) are counted for ranking; language papers in Part-I are qualifying in nature.
